Bill Clinton didn’t want to jinx Hillary’s presidential campaign.
He was asked Tuesday on the “Late Show With David Letterman” what the chances were that he’d live in the White House again. He dodged the question, not taking anything for granted, even the possibility of Hillary losing the Democratic nomination.
“First of all, Hillary has to win the nomination. If she wins the nomination, then she has to win the election,” he said. “If she wins the election, the chances are 100 percent that I’ll move back.”
He paused before adding, “If I’m asked.”
“It’d be a good thing for America if she won,” he said. “I hope she does.”
Going by polls, Hillary Clinton already has the Democratic nomination locked up, so Bill is close to halfway done with his checklist of things that would have to happen to get back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. A CNN-Opinion Research poll found Hillary Clinton leading Democratic opponents, with 69 percent. In a distant second place was Vice President Biden, with 11 percent.
Tuesday was Bill Clinton’s 10th visit to the “Late Show With David Letterman,” the most appearances of any former president. All of his appearances have come since he left office.
