Former President Bill Clinton took a jab at Democratic-run states during a rally in California on Wednesday.
Clinton was promoting his wife, Hillary Clinton’s higher education proposals when he mentioned California’s financial problems. Both chambers of the California State Legislature are run by Democrats and the Governor, Jerry Brown, is a Democrat as well.
“We have to make college more affordable and it’s interesting in this primary, there are two different approaches and I personally, because I was a governor for twelve years and I think I understand how this works and the kind of pressures you’re under in California, I think Hillary’s will work better,” Clinton said. “One approach is to make tuition-free at all public institutions of higher education. Now that has a lot of appeal, but it requires, the fine print is, the states to match a third of the money and I don’t believe the California legislature can afford to do that. You don’t have enough money to put into higher education as it is.” For the full article click here
