Democratic commission candidate wants to help county employees

As five Republican candidates vied for the party nomination to become a Utah County commissioner this winter, Jeanne Bowen sat back and watched.

As the only Democrat to file to run for the position currently held by Republican Larry Ellertson, Bowen had no competition at the Utah County Democratic Convention in April, and little campaigning to do.

While the two remaining Republican nominees, Nathan Ivie and Casey Voeks, gear up for a June primary, Bowen must figure out how to appeal to a voter base that has proven to be historically conservative and Republican.

In the 2014 election, no Democratic candidates filed to run for county offices, including the other two seats on the county commission. For the full article click here
